Apple’s Ongoing Evolution: Snapdragon X75 Modem in iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max
The excitement for Apple’s future iPhone 16 series is already building, with rumors swirling about what the tech giant has in store. According to a recent report by analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities, Apple is set to incorporate Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X75 modem in iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models.
Announced in February 2023, the Snapdragon X75 modem represents a significant leap in 5G connectivity when compared to the Snapdragon X70 modem used in the current iPhone 15 lineup. It not only promises faster and more efficient data transfer but also boasts a smaller physical footprint and around 20% lower power consumption.
In a somewhat surprising turn of events, Pu also speculates that Apple will reserve the Snapdragon X75 modem exclusively for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. This is a notable departure from Apple’s usual practice of employing the same Qualcomm modem across all models within a particular iPhone generation.
The reason for this shift in strategy remains somewhat mysterious. Apple’s motive might be to further distinguish the Pro and Pro Max models from their standard counterparts, though the exact rationale behind this decision remains unclear.
Additionally, Pu’s insights suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models may feature larger displays, with a 0.2-inch increase compared to the current 6.1- and 6.7-inch sizes.
While it’s too early to confirm the accuracy of these rumors, they do offer intriguing glimpses into what Apple may be planning for the highly anticipated iPhone 16 series. Apple’s commitment to innovation and staying at the forefront of technology is evident in these early speculations.
